Susan Stimpson

A proven record of translating grassroots ideals to conservative governing.

Stafford, VA – Susan Stimpson, Chairman of the Stafford County Board of Supervisors announced she is entering the race for Lieutenant Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia.

“I believe I am the best candidate to advance our conservative ideals both on the campaign trail and in government. Values are worth fighting for and now is not the time to stand quietly by as our rights are eroded. As Lt. Governor I will help turn Virginia’s grassroots values into conservative governing policies.” Stimpson said.

Stimpson has been a long time volunteer and activist. She was Stafford County Republican Party Chair. Then she went on to be elected County Supervisor and then Chairman of the County Board of Supervisors.

Stimpson said, “After I was elected, I made the transition from grassroots to governing. There I governed as a conservative; reforming government and lowering taxes. We succeeded.  The local economy thrived with rapid job and business growth.

Stimpson’s record includes leading the Board of Supervisors to:

  • Cut overall real estate taxes three years in a row
  • Reduce general administrative staff to 2004 levels, shifting them to law enforcement and first responder jobs
  • Target funding for rapidly growing schools to the classroom
  • Eliminate the regressive business tax BPOL

These results led to significant local job growth, business growth and Standard and Poor’s upgraded the County’s Bond rating.

Stimpson will be campaigning for the Republican ticket this fall and launching her campaign tour after this November’s election.

Susan Stimpson is married to Dan Stimpson, a retired Marine. They have two children.
