The Bearing Drift is yet again wrong about Jamie Radtke. On Tuesday they officially endorsed George Allen for the United States Senate, overlooking the more conservative contenders. It would appear that the Bearing Drift is anything but “Virginia’s Conservative Voice” as they are fond of calling themselves.
As I stated in my last article, “Bearing Drift Wrong on Radtke” George Allen is a good and decent man but he is most certainly not the most conservative, not even the second most conservative person in the race for the Republican nomination for the United States Senate. Yet Virginia’s Conservative Voice has endorsed him.
George Allen voted to raise the debt ceiling as a United States Senator 4 times in 6 years. Not very conservative, yet the Bearing Drift endorsed him.
George Allen voted for 90 billions dollars in earmarks as a U.S. Senator. Not very conservative, yet the Bearing Drift endorsed him.
George Allen supported liberal Democrat Ted Kennedy’s “No Child Left Behind.” Not very conservative, yet the Bearing Drift endorsed him.
George Allen voted for Medicare Part D. Not very conservative, yet the Bearing Drift endorsed him.
George Allen supports abortion as long as it’s prior to “fetal viability.” Not very conservative, yet the Bearing Drift endorsed him.
George Allen voted to federalize the TSA. Not very conservative, yet the Bearing Drift endorsed him.
There are four people running to be the GOP nominee for the United States Senate, and of the four, “Virginia’s Conservative Voice” has thrown it’s support behind the least conservative of the all. I will not argue with the fact that Allen may indeed win the nomination and that he may indeed win the Senate race, but if you are a so called conservative voice and you support him when there are better choices, it indicates a lack of any principled stand and zero conservative leadership.
We are at a crossroads in America today. We have most likely one election left to get the ship righted before this great nation ends up like Europe. We cannot continue to support middle of the road Republican types who have made a career out of politics. Washington is already full of them.
It is time to stand on principle and start acting like the word conservative actually means something. A vote for George Allen in this primary might be the safe vote, but it is a cowardly vote for sure.
