Breaking Glass Creates Jobs in Virginia

Broken Glass

The AP and now every paper across the state is talking about a report that claims 250,000 jobs will be created.

RICHMOND, Va. — A report by the Chesapeake Bay Foundation concludes that storm water and sewage plant upgrades intended to help nurse the environmentally-battered bay back to health would create nearly 250,000 jobs.

This is typical, in the age of Keynesian economics; basically government spending creates jobs. Hey, if I break all the windows downtown and burn a few buildings out across the area that will create jobs too…but that’s just stupid!

The Chesapeake Bay Foundation is like many other “public private partnerships”. They write these glowing reports but never once take into account the damage that the changes cause. How many jobs are lost to cities like Lynchburg because of overburdensome “runoff” regulations? How many companies look into moving into our area and keep on moving when they see the high cost of “environmental impact” compliance? Lynchburg boasts it’s adherence to this nonsense. Lynchburg and most of the cities signing onto the tree hugger agenda are part of ICLIE

More about ICLIE:

ICLEI was founded in 1990, at the World Congress of Local Governments for a Sustainable Future, at the United Nations in New York, as a call to action for governments around the world, dedicated to climate protection and sustainability. With a handful of local governments taking the lead, ICLEI USA was formed in 1995 and has grown their pilot project into a network of over 600 municipalities across the country who have committed to tangible reductions in greenhouse gas emissions and the creation of sustainable communities. ICLEI members vary from small towns to big cities and represent municipalities is virtually every state. Communities involved with ICLEI rank as the greenest towns and cities in the country and are leaders in creating sustainable communities. ICLEI provides tools and support to foster local action that helps America become greener.

I don’t know about you but I’m sick and tired of the lies.We are told that the absurdly high taxes we pay (11.5 % sales and 3x higher property taxes ) are “necessary” for “public safety” and “road improvements” I guess necessary is what they mean by Granite parking spaces, less police officers, AND lots and lots of potholes that are filled with gravel instead of being repaired then I’d say they are doing a bang up job.Don’t get me started on the government schools. $30 Million for an elementary school that doesn’t educate kids thanks to No Child Left Behind.

And it isn’t just Lynchburg. Most of Northern Virginia suffers from this Plague of Locusts known as GREEN Politicians! You will notice the asphalt patch jobs on the cement highways. I’m not materials expert…but even I know not to do that. You also may notice them on Toll Roads. I’ll bet if you look back you can find some “report” that espoused the benefits of the toll and how the road would be better and last longer and be better maintained because of it. Ooops!

Now there is this “report” full of lies that says 250,000 jobs will be created. How many of these jobs will be given to union only shops? How will they be paid for? On the backs of businesses and local communities, that’s how! More unfunded Federal and State mandates that impact the local community and drive jobs out of our area and up north.

We “the governed” need to withdraw our “consent” from these fools.

I’m not against protecting the environment. I spend a great deal of my free time outdoors with my family. I’m also not convinced that the method known as “Fracking” is a safe way to extract natural gas. I’m just sick and tired of having my pocket picked at every turn and being told that the thief is putting money in it. We need to find a balance and between the DEQ, EPA, and an alphabet soup of government agencies. The scales are tipped in their favor and it’s time to say NO and step back for a healthy dose of sanity.

If you are going to pick our pocket. Then look us in the eye, stick your government guns to our head and try and take it. At least then we know where we stand and can effectively defend ourselves. Quit hiding behind bogus reports and studies that were made up to support an agenda with not even a hint of real science.

Thomas Jefferson criticized the King in the Declaration of Independence because “He has erected a multitude of New Offices, and sent hither swarms of Officers to harass our people, and eat out their substance” and it looks as if we’ve come full circle. Will it take a Boston Massacre or something worse for us to be concerned? Or is it back to football and American Idol?
