George Allen on “Washington’s Band Aid Approach”

George Allen’s latest email.

I wanted to share with you an editorial I wrote on our country’s extraordinary fiscal crisis and why I believe a Balanced Budget Amendment is so important for our children’s future and our country.

America is on a dangerous and unsustainable path that is diminishing our children’s future and our opportunity to achieve the American Dream.

We cannot continue with the typical Washington band aid approach that offers a short-term fix, just to revisit the same problem a few years down the road – trillions more in debt.

In Virginia, our State Constitution requires a balanced budget and Virginia Governors have the line item veto authority to eliminate specific items of wasteful or non-essential spending.  As a result, Virginia taxpayers have not faced the multi-billion dollar deficits that some states are now experiencing.

We need the same fiscal discipline enforced on the federal government.  We owe it to our children to make the hard decisions now so they don’t have to shoulder the burdens of Washington’s failures today.

Please take a minute to read my editorial by clicking here, and give your feedback on my

It’s time we get “America Open for Business!” again.
